PTFA

Darley

Welcome to a new year of school and a new year of PTFA.  If this is your first year at Darley Primary, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to each of you.  If you are a “seasoned” school family, I know that you are as excited as we are to be starting the school year up again.

Whether a new PTFA member or a returning member, we thank you for your contributions, time, and commitment to our organization, our teachers, and most importantly, our students! Anyone can be a member of the PTFA, you are a voice for our students and part of the largest child advocacy program in the world! It is such a rewarding experience!!

As we begin a new school year, I am looking forward to continuing the working partnership we have established with the school, preschool, the local community, our amazing teachers and our invaluable Staff to provide an excellent learning experience for our children.

I encourage each and every one of you to become a part of our team.  The number one reason to join the PTFA is to benefit the children.  In doing so, you also help us.  But there are many more advantages:

  • By becoming a PTFA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
  • By volunteering with your PTFA, you gain valuable experiences and personal confidence. It’s an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use, for a good cause.
  • By getting involved, you’ll be part of the solution, helping to make positive change.
  • PTFA functions provide opportunities to meet other parents and teachers.

The PTFA is a forum for exchanging ideas, attend the PTFA meetings throughout the year to make suggestions, and provide your input.

Some things that we can use some help with this year are fundraising. We spend a lot of money on the programs and events that enhance our children’s learning experience. As we continue from year to year, we like to add more. Yet in doing so, we need more funds to allow for these programs. If you have any ideas or would like to help in any way, please contact me.

Thank you and have a great year!!!

Sincerely,

Lucy Martin, PTFA Chair

Summerbridge

Welcome to the Summerbridge PTA!  The PTA exists to benefit the children in our school and encourage involvement with the local community.  We organize a variety of social events throughout the year for children to enjoy, as well as raise money to enhance opportunities and facilities for our students.

Every parent in school is automatically a member of the PTA.  We encourage everyone to get involved!  It is a great way to meet new people, take an active part in your child’s time at school, and help to make a difference.

We meet once a month, please see the noticeboard for the next date and information.  The meetings are friendly and participation from all is welcomed.  If you are interested in coming along to the next meeting, speak to any of the members, school administrators, or just turn up.  The meetings are usually held around school pick up time. Tea and coffee are always on offer! We understand that not all parents can attend regular meetings but we always appreciate extra help at events.  We need fresh ideas and willing hands!

Elections for key positions are held at the beginning of each school year.  The appointments for the current academic year are as follows:

Chair:  Steven Lofthouse

Vice Chair: Joanne Kaslow

Treasurer: Caroline Ball

Secretary: Bobbie Massey

There is a notice board outside the school that highlights the next meeting date, as well as pertinent information for upcoming events. Be sure to check out our PTA newsletter, issued at the end of each term.

The funds that we raise are put to great use.  Each year an amount is set aside to cover transportation costs for educational visits and to subsidizing swimming transportation for all the pupils.  We are always eager for parental input on how to allocate the funds we raise!

Some of our annual events include Bingo nights, Bags2School, A Halloween themed event, a Christmas event and a Spring disco, but we are always looking for new ideas!
